Video consultation
The consultation is held via WhatsApp video call — just your phone is enough. If preferred, we can also use Terveystalo, Mehiläinen or Pikkujätti telemedicine platforms.
Invoice afterwards
In urgent situations, you don't need to think about payment upfront. The invoice will be sent after the consultation.
An experienced pediatric surgeon who has time to listen
I am Dr. Jani Unkuri, a board-certified specialist in pediatric surgery. I worked for over 15 years at university and central hospitals in Finland — at the old Children's Hospital, the New Children's Hospital and other units in the Helsinki University Hospital (HUS) district.
I previously served as the training coordinator for pediatric surgery in the HUS district, with broad experience across the full spectrum of pediatric surgical conditions: from congenital malformations to trauma care and emergency situations.
Today I see patients privately at clinics in Helsinki, Hyvinkää, Kotka and Järvenpää — and offer online consultations to families all across Finland and abroad. The idea behind the online consultation is that you receive a pediatric surgeon's assessment quickly, when you actually need it.
Finnish families living abroad have already found the online consultation valuable — many concerns can be evaluated and addressed via video call without having to wait for the next trip back to Finland. International families are equally welcome.

Through established clinics — like any regular consultation
Billing is handled through Terveystalo, Mehiläinen or Pikkujätti, depending on your insurance provider.
Insurance companies generally cover online consultations on the same basis as any other doctor's visit. Please always verify directly with your own insurance provider, as policies vary. I cannot assess the terms of an individual insurance policy in advance.
